“Checkpoints such as qalandia are justified and necessary to maintain security and they protect everyone”
“Checkpoints such as qalandia are not justified jeopardize security and protect no one”
Speeches must include
1) A definition of security that supports your position
2) Concise statement of your position
3) Evidence from at least 2 sources (book, radio, youtube)- Quotes or paraphrasing
4) Clear reasoning that connects your position to your evidence
5) Conclusion
example:
For this debate, my team will define security as a feeling of safety and a lack of violent attacks from outsiders. We believe that checkpoints help maintain Israeli security and Palestinian security. In the radio program, "ice cream and tear gas" we heard that many Palestinians pass through Qalandiya everyday. While tear gas is regrettable, it does not represent a violent attack. If many palestinians can pass through everyday without violence, then the checkpoint is working. We also heard Israeli's on the YouTube say that there are fewer terrorist attacks because of the wall. This does not only mean that Israelis are safer. If there are fewer attacks, there is less fear on the Israeli side, this helps protect Israelis AND Palestinians because Palestinians do not need to fear that Israelis will seek revenge for attacks because they aren't happening as frequently. Therefore, we believe that the checkpoints and the wall are protecting both Palestinians and Israelis.
